A Personal Reflection

As I was writing this, I couldn’t help but reflect on my own journey.

A year ago, after living in Thailand for a year, I returned home with one purpose: to fetch my son so we could begin our next chapter together in another country.

Everything seemed to be falling into place.

The documents were ready.
The plans were made.
A departure date had been set.

Then my son became sick.

What started as repeated visits to the doctor eventually led me to seek help from a pediatric specialist.

And that is when my life changed.

My son was diagnosed with a heart condition that required surgery.

Suddenly, everything I had planned came to a halt.

The move was cancelled.
The future I had imagined disappeared overnight.
And I found myself in a season I never expected to walk through.

I felt lost.

But somewhere in that uncertainty, I found my way back to God.

Over the past year, there were moments when comparison tried to steal my joy.

I watched others move forward while my life seemed to stand still.

I questioned delays.
I questioned timing.
I questioned what God was doing.

Yet deep down, my heart remained anchored in His promises.

Today, my son has successfully undergone surgery.

He is recovering well.

And when I look back, I can honestly say what once felt like a setback became one of the greatest testimonies of God’s faithfulness in my life.

The Lord not only sustained us — He carried us.

The year I thought I had lost became a year where I experienced God’s goodness in ways I never could have imagined.

It reminds me of the words in Psalm 126:

“When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed.”

That is exactly how this season feels.

Like a dream.

What looked like delay was not abandonment.
What looked like loss was not the end of the story.

God was working all along.

And sometimes, the greatest blessings are not the ones that happen according to our plans.

They are the ones that reveal God’s faithfulness in ways we never expected.
